Harmony Belles raises record money for Epilepsy Action

Harmony Belles raises money for Epilepsy Action at its ‘Christmas in Harmony’ concert on Friday 2nd of December 2022

The beautiful All Saints Church in Marlow, Buckinghamshire was the setting for the Harmony Belles’ Christmas concert on Friday 2nd December 2022. Together with male barbershop group, the Thames Valley Chorus, we performed to over 300 people our ‘Christmas in Harmony’ concert in memory of Max Sutton and in aid of Epilepsy in Action.

It was a very cold evening but the lights in the High Street and around the church were spectacular, putting everyone in the Christmas mood. We performed a selection of modern songs as well as classical Christmas pieces and in true Christmas spirit served our audience with mince pies and wine during the interval. Over 300 mince pies were very kindly donated by local supermarkets and we are extremely grateful for their support. The church was packed and we were thrilled to have raised £3,000 for Epilepsy in Action, a charity very close to the heart of one of our choir members, Samantha Sutton and her family.

Max Sutton died on the 9th of September 2022, aged 20, having had epilepsy from the age of 3. It had a huge impact on him and his whole family. Max loved coming to our concerts, attending them all over the years to watch his mother, Sam and all of us perform. His family were delighted that the concert was performed in memory of Max, supporting Epilepsy in Action.

The Thames Valley Chorus were a great addition to our event, their wonderful harmonies and performance really enhanced the evening, helping us to bring early Christmas joy to our audience. We are very grateful to them for helping us to raise such a fantastic amount of money for Epilepsy Action.
